still in love with red?

Rihanna was a colour force all by herself in 2011; her red curls had women of every age and race rushing into salons for some all-over scarlet.

But what about 2012? We know that Riri has already ditched her red in favour of a blunt cut bleached blonde wig - we much prefer the red - but it looks like she gave up on the trend a little too early. For 2012 red is still very much on the style agenda - but we have some new shades to play with.

Ruby red is a cool tone, perfect for those with peachy cream complexions, while scarlet suits dark haired girls - it's a great way for brunettes to play with red. But the most popular shade of red right now is violet red - full of fun, it seems to suit everyone, at least, everyone who's willing to play with colour.

Whether natural or helped by the creativity of the salon technician, redheads need tender loving care. Unfortunately reds fade more quickly than other colours but when the vibrant shade is at its best it's simply stunning. One of our fave brands, TIGI, recommends gentle shampoos and conditioners that offer protection and help to prolong the colour, so once you've found your perfect red try TIGI's Bedhead Colour Combat range.
