Compared to Paris, New York and Milan, London Fashion Week has always been known as the more daring, more fashion-forward event, but one thing it doesn't get enough praise for is the artistry behind the hair and makeup.
Next winter, according to shows from Kinder Aggugini and Mattijs London, our hair will be sleek and slick, with the side parting we're currently loving still in demand. However, where the the smooth look resulted in a neat bun at Mattijs London, at Kinder the back of the hair was wildly different to the slick front, as hair was twisted around and over itself. Both designers highlighted lips in different ways, one with gorgeous, blood red lippy, the other going for gold with glittering lips.
At John Rocha hair was wild in a Wuthering Heights way, while Moschino Cheap and Chic brought some fun to the catwalk, with fabric hairbands in pastel shades sat atop beautiful bouffant 'dos.
Our favourite look so far? The ever so slighty dishevelled updos at Temperley London; with an overall Doctor Zhivago vibe - much of the hair looks were covered with plush Russian hats or tiny leopard print versions - the middle parting teamed with an undone updo made the models look like they'd had just about the right amount of fun backstage. The makeup was delicate and very peachy, and, as seen at many other shows, eyebrows had been lightened, either with bleach or a pale eyeshadow.
Which looks will inspire you?
